IGO is a leading ASX listed diversified mining, development and exploration company, with a portfolio of high quality gold and base metals mining operations in Western Australia and a growing pipeline of belt scale greenfields exploration projects. The company’s 100% wholly-owned assets include the world class Nova nickel-copper-cobalt operation, the Jaguar zinc-copper-silver operation and the Long nickel operation. IGO also produces gold from it’s 30% interest in the Tropicana Gold Mine, a joint venture with AngloGold Ashanti.
The Situation
The exploration team at IGO often works in remote areas where internet access is limited. IGO delivers many of their courses, including inductions and safety courses, as e-learning modules through their Learning Management System. The exploration team cannot access this training for most of the time that they are in the field.
The Result
IGO partnered with Edge Learning Services to find a solution to enable the exploration team to access training courses without being connected to the internet. An iPad app was identified that can download the e-learning course to the device while there is internet connectivity and the course can then be run in the field as many times as necessary without further downloads required. Edge Learning identified the correct publishing settings required to activate this functionality.
What The Client Says
The exploration induction is now published using the required settings and runs off an iPad in the field. The exploration team can now access training regardless of where they are or what facilities are available.
